1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Comms People (“the Platform”), operated by Katie Boysen LLC d/b/a Comms People (“we,” “us,” or “our”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

2. Description of Service

Comms People is a marketplace connecting businesses (“Clients”) with independent communications professionals (“Consultants”). We facilitate introductions and provide tools for profile management, booking, and payment processing. We do not employ Consultants and are not a party to agreements between Clients and Consultants.

3. Accounts

You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least 18 years old to use the Platform.

4. Consultant Membership

Consultants pay a membership fee to maintain an active profile on the Platform. Membership is available at $44/month or $400/year (a 25% savings). Memberships auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. Consultants may switch between monthly and annual billing at any time through the billing portal. Membership fees are non-refundable. By subscribing, you acknowledge that all membership payments are final and no refunds will be issued for any reason, including partial billing periods, unused time, or early cancellation. You may cancel your membership at any time through your dashboard settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period and you will retain access until that date. We reserve the right to adjust pricing with 30 days’ notice.

5. Payments & Fees

Payments for project work are processed through Stripe. The Platform charges a service fee of 10–15% on project payments, which is deducted before disbursement to the Consultant. Consultants are responsible for their own tax obligations. Free consultations booked through the Platform carry no fees.

Consultants retain ownership of their profile content. By posting content to the Platform, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display and distribute that content in connection with the Platform. Work product created for Clients is governed by the agreement between the Client and Consultant.

10. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the quality of Consultant services, the accuracy of profiles, or specific outcomes from consultations or project work. We are not liable for disputes between Clients and Consultants.

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms or for any reason with 30 days’ notice. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the Platform. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
